Can International Students work while studying?
YES! International students are allowed to work in Australia while studying full time to help with their finances and to gain working experience. There is no need to apply for any other work visa.
- Australia: 20 hr/week during academic term, full time during vacation
- Ireland: 20 hr/week during academic term, 40 hours/week during vacation
- UK: 20 hr/week during academic term, full time during vacation
- USA: 20 hr/week during academic term, full time during vacation (On-campus only. Off-campus is possible during Optional Practical Training (OPT) scheme)
The above circumstances are for students on a student visa. If you are on a temporary visa or other visa classes, we are more than happy to advise you on the guidelines for your circumstances.
What is the minimum wage that I should expect?
As of July 2018, these are the minimum wages in the respective countries.
- Australia: A$18.93 per hour
- Ireland: €9.55 per hour
- UK: £7.50 per hour
- USA: US$7.25 per hour
