About the course
The Food Science Minor explores the chemical composition of foods and how ingredients interact under different processing conditions to support the development of new food products. It is designed to complement an undergraduate degree and broaden expertise toward food-industry careers. Students may also have the opportunity to undertake an external work placement for practical, hands-on experience in food science. The programme develops scientific knowledge and analytical skills aligned with its qualification level and industry expectations.
Career outcome
This minor can support career pathways in the food and beverage sector by adding knowledge of food composition, ingredient functionality and processing effects. Graduates may be better prepared for roles linked to product development, quality and processing environments, and for working with industry partners through practical placement experience where available. This is an undergraduate Food Sciences minor. Preparing graduates for science-related roles and further study pathways matched to the programme level.
