About the course
This Certificate III qualification prepares apprentices for mechanical engineering trade work in metal, engineering and manufacturing industries. It develops practical skills for fitting and assembly, manufacturing and installation, modification, testing, fault-finding, maintenance and servicing of mechanical equipment and machinery using machine tools. Delivery includes face-to-face, simulated workplace and workplace-based learning, and is undertaken through a Training Contract or formal trade recognition assessment. This is a Certificate III in mechanical engineering trades.
Career outcome
Graduates may work across engineering and manufacturing settings in mechanical trade roles that support installation, maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery. Typical outcomes include Engineering Tradesperson – Mechanical, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist, and mechanical technician roles in areas such as hydraulic/fluid power, pumps and valves, or marine maintenance.
