This pre-apprenticeship Certificate II builds practical, hands-on skills for entry into the automotive industry. You’ll learn operational knowledge to identify and inspect mechanical and electrical components across a range of vehicles and equipment, and gain skills for minor maintenance and repair of automotive vehicle bodies. The program is designed to broaden automotive knowledge and improve readiness for an apprenticeship in automotive mechanical trades. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.

Graduates can pursue entry-level roles supporting automotive workshops and service operations while preparing for apprenticeship pathways. Typical outcomes include automotive serviceperson, automotive apprentice, trades assistant or vehicle service assistant, assisting with basic inspections, servicing tasks and routine maintenance under supervision.
