About the course

The Performance honours specialisation focuses intensively on solo and ensemble-based performance development and activity within the Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours). It centres on advancing high-level practical musicianship through sustained performance preparation and assessment. Selection is supported through an audition process to confirm readiness for honours-level performance study.

What you might learn

Students develop advanced technical and musical skills through intensive preparation of contrasting repertoire and sustained practice. The specialisation aims to build performance presence, expressive range, stylistic awareness and professional-level musicianship for solo and ensemble contexts. It also supports students to refine their artistic decision-making and performance standards appropriate to honours study.

Career outcome

Graduates may pursue professional pathways as performing musicians in solo, chamber and ensemble settings across the performing arts sector. Opportunities can include work as a classical performer, session/ensemble musician, or portfolio musician combining performance with related musical practice. The specialisation can also support progression to further specialist study or performance-focused professional development.
