About the course
The Law and Society major examines how law interacts with social policy and shapes everyday life. You’ll explore contemporary issues such as human rights, crime and justice, Indigenous rights, freedom of expression and religion, and debates around life decisions. The major builds a broad understanding of legal institutions and their social impacts, preparing you to analyse legal and policy challenges in modern society at bachelor level in Law. The programme builds legal reasoning, case analysis, and professional ethics for legal practice and public service pathways.

Graduates can pursue opportunities across the private, public and non-profit sectors where legal and policy insight is valued. Possible pathways include policy and government roles, advocacy and community organisations, justice and corrections settings, compliance and risk, research and consulting, and further study in law or related disciplines.
