About the course
This Chemistry (Advanced) major is part of Curtin’s Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) and is designed for high-performing students. You’ll build strong theoretical and practical chemistry capability through laboratory-focused study in synthesis, analysis and molecular modelling. The flexible major can include for-credit research experiences, industry placements and interdisciplinary projects, culminating in a final-year capstone chemistry project within an honours-level science degree.

Graduates can pursue chemistry-focused roles across laboratory, industry and applied research settings. Typical careers include analytical, industrial, medicinal, synthetic and environmental chemist, as well as roles such as forensic scientist or materials scientist. Employment opportunities span sectors including environment, forensics, health, resources, manufacturing and defence, supported by strong practical lab skills developed within an honours-level chemistry major.
