About the course
This five-year combined degree integrates arts study with professional social work preparation. You’ll complete an Arts major and supporting study (including sociology/social policy options), then progress to core social work units and substantial field education placements to meet AASW practice standards. The course develops critical thinking, independent judgement and the ability to apply knowledge across diverse social contexts in an undergraduate Arts and Social Work qualification.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles in government and community services, health and mental health services, family and child support, disability and aged care, housing and homelessness, advocacy and policy, and related research or program delivery roles. The professional social work component prepares you for accredited practice, while Arts study supports broader careers requiring strong analysis and communication in sociology and social work settings. Preparing graduates for human resources support, community services, and psychology-related graduate pathways.
