About the course
UQ’s Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) is for high-performing Bachelor of Social Work students who want to add research training and an honours qualification. After transferring in following third year, you’ll complete an independent research project with an academic mentor, alongside core social work learning. You’ll also gain extensive supervised placement experience and explore practice areas such as health and ageing, families, and mental health in this Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree in social work.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for professional social work practice across community services, health and hospital settings, and public or private agencies, supporting individuals, families and communities. The honours research experience can strengthen pathways into policy, program evaluation, and research roles, and provide a foundation for postgraduate study or a PhD. This Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree supports careers in applied social work and social policy-related roles within government, NGOs and community organisations.
