What is homestay and how is it like?

Homestay

Homestay refers to a type of accommodation, where students stay in a local family’s home.

Typically, homestay is suitable for students under 18 as there is 24/7 monitoring of their whereabouts and food/utilities are covered as part of the cost. Students should be offered a room and share other facilities such as the kitchen and lounge area with their host family. It can be a rewarding experience as students get to integrate into the local community and it makes the transition as an International Student easier.

All homestay providers undergo background checks by schools to ensure there are good facilities and family members have no criminal records/are trained to take care of children.
