On-Campus Accommodation: Generally 2-3 months before the semester starts
Off-Campus Accommodation: Recommend to prepare early but 1 month should be sufficient to secure a place
Students need to complete a tenancy form and make deposit payment of bond (1 month of rent, may be refunded at end of lease) and the first month of rent to the accommodation office.
Some units may have many interested parties, meaning the earlier you submit the deposit and tenancy form, the more likely for you to secure that unit.
Most campus providers require students to commit to a yearly contract, excluding vacation periods. In private accommodations, the minimum occupational period is usually 12 months but can be shortened to 6 months only in special circumstances.
Rental payments are usually on a monthly basis and can be made via direct debit (automatic), bank transfer or online credit card payment.
