About the course
This Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology) enables you to undertake supervised, original research in areas across psychology and mental health. You can pursue topics spanning clinical, health, forensic and organisational psychology, as well as development, risk behaviours, cognition and neuroscience. You will work closely with expert researchers and use Deakin’s facilities and research networks to produce a substantial thesis. This is a PhD by research in Psychology. The programme develops research expertise in human behaviour, psychological measurement, and evidence-based intervention design.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-led careers in universities, health services, government and industry. Typical pathways include academic researcher, research fellow, policy or program evaluation specialist, behavioural scientist, and research roles in mental health, public health, justice and community services.
