About the course
This clinically focused Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) develops advanced knowledge and skills to provide specialist dental care for children and adolescents. You will combine supervised clinical training with didactic teaching and a research component each semester, building capability in diagnosis, prevention, behaviour management and treatment planning for growing patients, including those with special care needs. This is a doctoral-level dentistry program delivered face to face at Westmead.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for specialist practice in paediatric dentistry, delivering comprehensive oral health care for infants, children and adolescents, including medically compromised and special care patients. Training supports work in specialist private practice, public dental services and hospital-based settings where treatment under general anaesthesia and multidisciplinary collaboration are required. The research component also supports pathways into clinical education and research roles. This is a doctoral-level qualification in dentistry.
