About the course
This undergraduate engineering specialisation develops skills in engineering design with an emphasis on selecting materials and manufacturing processes early to reduce cost, time-to-market and resource use. You’ll focus on designing effective stakeholder solutions while considering manufacturability and efficient production. It assumes prior fundamentals in technical drawing, engineering modelling and manufacturing processes, and complements an engineering degree pathway in mechanical-focused design and manufacturing.
Career outcome
This specialisation supports careers that combine product design with manufacturing and materials decisions, helping graduates contribute to efficient, manufacturable engineering solutions. It is relevant to roles in mechanical design, production and process improvement, and product development across manufacturing, industrial engineering and related sectors. As part of an undergraduate engineering degree, it strengthens employability in design-for-manufacture and resource-efficient engineering practice within mechanical engineering contexts.
