About the course
The Master of Theatre (Dramaturgy) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) offers Australia’s first specialist qualification in dramaturgy. You will explore dramaturgy beyond scripts, engaging with dance, hybrid works, installation, community-based and performance art. Delivered over three semesters, it combines theory and practice through workshops, seminars and performance projects. This is a master’s coursework degree in performing arts practice. The programme advances creative direction, digital production, and design thinking for professional media and innovation-led studios.

Students develop in-depth dramaturgical thinking and contemporary practices, building artistic leadership capabilities for diverse performance contexts.
