About the course
Flinders’ Master of Sustainable Development builds interdisciplinary capability to tackle complex sustainability challenges across society, economy and environment. You’ll examine human–environment connections and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, learning to analyse ecological, social, political and economic information to design practical development solutions. The course is offered on-campus or online to support full-time or part-time study in environmental science at master coursework level.
Career outcome
Graduates develop skills to address issues such as poverty, gender inequality, health impacts, environmental vulnerability and governance challenges. Career pathways span international and sustainable development roles in NGOs, government departments (foreign affairs, trade and sustainability), multilateral development agencies, development consultancies and managing contractors. Potential roles include policy officer/adviser, research officer, environmental consultant, development practitioner and demographer within environmental science at master coursework level.
