About the course
The Master of Research – SMAH (Nursing) combines research training with an independent research thesis. You will complete 96 credit points across two years full-time (or part-time equivalent): the first year focuses on research training and coursework, and the second year is a 48 credit point thesis examined by two external assessors. This is a research-focused masters designed to prepare you for higher degree research and specialist inquiry in nursing. The programme develops advanced clinical reasoning, health leadership, and evidence-based practice for complex care environments.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for research-focused roles in healthcare and academic settings, supporting evidence-based practice and service improvement. Potential pathways include research assistant/associate positions, roles in clinical research and quality improvement, and progression to a PhD or other higher degree research.
