About the course
This Bachelor of Midwifery (Post Registration) (Registered Midwife) upgrades registered midwives’ qualifications with evidence-based, safe and woman-centred care as the focus. You’ll explore primary health care and continuity-of-care approaches, build understanding of different midwifery models, and strengthen the ability to apply theory to everyday professional practice. The course also draws on Flinders’ research expertise to support high-quality clinical decision-making in midwifery at bachelor level.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue diverse midwifery pathways across hospital and community settings, applying advanced practice and evidence-based care. Roles may include antenatal educator, community midwife, clinical facilitator or clinical midwife consultant, as well as research and service-improvement positions such as research project officer. The course also provides a platform for progression into further postgraduate study, supporting career development in midwifery practice, education, research and management at bachelor level.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be a registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current certificate of registration.
