About the course

The Doctor of Optometry (OD) covers the basic and applied optical, visual and biomedical sciences that underpin optometry, with a strong emphasis on developing clinical capability. Students complete immersive clinical training including metropolitan, rural and international placements, particularly in the final year. A clinically relevant research project is a required component of the degree, supporting evidence-based practice and innovation in eye care.

What you might learn

The program aims to develop graduates with deep knowledge of the human visual system, optics, eye disease and optometric clinical examination. Students build professional and ethical responsibility alongside leadership skills, preparing them to contribute to the advancement of optometry.
