About the course
UWA’s Master of Oceanography develops advanced understanding of dynamic marine and coastal systems and the challenges facing oceans. You’ll build interdisciplinary knowledge and technical capability relevant to ocean observation, modelling and management, with opportunities to engage with current research and industry practice. This is a postgraduate coursework degree focused on ocean and coastal science. The programme deepens scientific methodology, data interpretation, and applied research skills for laboratory and field-based careers.

Graduates can pursue roles across marine and coastal sectors where advanced ocean science skills are needed. Career pathways commonly include work in government agencies, environmental and ocean consultancies, marine industries and research institutions, supporting marine and coastal management, environmental assessment and monitoring, and applied ocean research.
