About the course

This double degree combines the Master of Landscape Architecture with the Master of Urban Design to prepare graduates to improve built and natural environments through innovative design and to understand cities as complex spatio-temporal systems. The curriculum is grounded in design, ecology and urbanism, and is complemented by history and theory across landscape architecture, architecture and urban design, including cross-cultural and Indigenous perspectives. Students complete two professionally accredited graduate programs in a reduced timeframe, broadening career options and signalling dual capability to employers.

What you might learn

Students develop interdisciplinary skills that bridge arts and sciences, design and environment, with an emphasis on ecological, cultural and social issues in urban and rural contexts. The course builds foundation knowledge for designing interconnected buildings and public/private spaces within social, environmental, aesthetic and economic frameworks. It also aims to strengthen leadership and strategic thinking through a world-class built environment education.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles across landscape architecture and urban design, working on public realm, precinct, and city-shaping projects that integrate environmental and social considerations. Career pathways include practice in multidisciplinary design firms, government and planning agencies, and consultancy roles focused on urban regeneration, landscape planning, and sustainable development. Dual professional accreditation can enhance employability and open broader opportunities across the built environment sector.
