About the course
Develop advanced capability in Geographic Information Science, focusing on geospatial data, spatial analysis, remote sensing and web mapping. You’ll use specialist labs and contemporary GIS software, automate geospatial workflows with programming, and work with national datasets for real-world applications. A semester-long GIS and/or remote-sensing project builds practical experience and professional skills for Master-level work in geospatial computing. The programme deepens scientific methodology, data interpretation, and applied research skills for laboratory and field-based careers.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles applying GIS and remote sensing across government, environment, resources, planning and health sectors. Typical pathways include GIS analyst, spatial data scientist, remote sensing analyst, geospatial developer, cartography/mapping specialist, and spatial project officer or manager. The degree supports Master-level careers requiring advanced geospatial computing, data integration, and project implementation in Geographic Information Science. Preparing graduates for research scientist, laboratory leadership, and specialist technical roles in the sciences.
