About the course
This course builds advanced capability in food science through industry-focused training in food safety, food engineering and food product design. You’ll learn in Murdoch’s Food Centre within the Food Innovation Precinct Western Australia, gaining hands-on experience in a real innovation environment. The program includes a substantial research project or dissertation to strengthen professional practice and applied research skills in food science at Masters level.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across the food and beverage sector, including Product Quality Manager, New Product Development Officer and Food Safety Officer. The course also supports pathways into dedicated research positions in food processing and innovation facilities and in biological or chemistry-based analytical service providers. With relevant experience, graduates may be eligible for professional membership with the Australian Institute of Food Science. Preparing graduates for research scientist, laboratory leadership, and specialist technical roles in the sciences.
