About the course
This course provides you with a professional qualification and specialised knowledge and skills in professional counselling practice, which you will be able to apply to diverse settings and contexts. You will engage with highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff who will use their extensive experience working as professional counsellors or psychologists to illustrate theoretical material and will help you apply this to real-world counselling practice in a variety of settings. You will consolidate and expand your knowledge through applied and experiential learning.
Career outcome
These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 9 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that students will be able to:1. demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge of evidence-based theories and frameworks related to the major schools of counselling and psychotherapy2. relate appropriate therapeutic approaches and strategies to the corresponding developmental stages across childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age3. demonstrate capacity to synthesise and communicate ideas at an advanced academic level4.
