About the course

This Chemical Engineering major within Curtin’s Master of Professional Engineering is designed for graduates of a four-year engineering degree that is not Engineers Australia accredited in the same discipline. You’ll build strong theoretical, lab, design and research capability, with emphasis on automation and control, big data in resources/energy and chemical process industries, and environmental sustainability. The major includes at least 12 weeks of professional practice and a final-year research project in chemical engineering at master’s level.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles such as chemical engineer, process engineer, metallurgist, process safety engineer or production manager. Employment is commonly found across oil and gas, mining and metallurgy, manufacturing and processing, and sectors such as pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper. Opportunities also exist in professional, scientific and technical services supporting plant operations, process design, optimisation and safety. These outcomes align with a master’s level specialisation in chemical engineering.
