About the course
UNSW’s biomedical engineering study area focuses on applying engineering to medicine and human biology, combining technology with health challenges. You’ll explore how engineering, computing and emerging technologies can be used to design devices and systems that diagnose, treat or support patients, from medical devices to advanced health solutions. This is postgraduate study in Biomedical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. The programme strengthens advanced engineering design, systems analysis, and innovation management for complex industry projects.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue roles where engineering meets healthcare, supporting the development and improvement of medical technologies and systems. Typical pathways include work with medical devices, imaging and biosignal technologies, bionics and implantable systems, robotics and digital health solutions, across hospitals, research labs, startups, and established medtech manufacturers. This is a Graduate Diploma pathway aligned to Biomedical Engineering practice and innovation.
