About the course

Emerging Power Systems Engineering focuses on modern electricity networks shaped by renewable energy, power electronics, energy storage and digital communications. You’ll explore challenges in generating, transmitting and distributing electricity, with emphasis on smart grids and microgrids. This is a postgraduate major taken within the Master of Professional Engineering and is designed for engineering graduates whose prior degree is not Engineers Australia accredited in the same discipline.

Career outcome

Graduates can pursue roles supporting the transition to cleaner, smarter power networks. Typical opportunities include renewable energy consultant, solar project manager, wind farm site manager and green construction manager, working across utilities, construction, manufacturing, and scientific/technical services.
