About the course

This apprenticeship qualification develops the practical and theoretical skills needed to work towards becoming a licensed electrician. You’ll combine employer-based training with TAFE study to build capability in electrical installation, circuits, drawings and diagrams, testing and fault finding, and safe work practices. Graduates can apply to sit the licensing exam with Energy Safe Victoria or progress to further study in electrical trades at Certificate III level in Electrical Engineering.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for work as an electrical apprentice progressing toward an unrestricted electrician licence, with skills applicable across residential, commercial and light industrial settings. Typical work involves installing and commissioning electrical systems, testing and fault finding, repairs and maintenance, and following regulatory and WHS requirements. This Certificate III supports pathways into licensed electrician roles and broader electrical trades work in the electrical industry.

Entry requirements

To study this course, you must be currently employed as an apprentice electrician.
