About the course
This structural engineering specialisation extends a civil engineering major with deeper study in the behaviour, capacity and performance of built structures. You’ll build skills in structural analysis and modelling, including dynamic actions and structural response, alongside advanced structural design and construction applications. It is delivered as a four-unit specialisation taken within an undergraduate engineering degree in civil engineering. The programme combines engineering fundamentals, design projects, and industry-ready technical problem-solving skills.
Career outcome
Graduates with this specialisation are suited to civil and structural engineering pathways where strong structural analysis and design capability is valued. Career directions may include roles supporting the design and assessment of buildings, bridges and other infrastructure, working with consulting engineers, contractors and asset owners on structural modelling, load and dynamic response checks, and design-for-constructability. This specialisation strengthens employability within bachelor-level civil/structural engineering practice.
