About the course
This Certificate IV builds practical drafting capability for residential building design projects. You’ll learn to produce drawings and supporting documentation for designers and architects, using manual and computer-aided drafting (CAD) techniques aligned with current industry practice. The course covers common materials and construction systems and applies National Building Codes, Australian Standards and local planning regulations for Class 1 and 10 buildings. The programme focuses on applied engineering drawings, workshop skills, and technical maintenance competencies.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles supporting residential building design and documentation workflows. Skills gained can be applied in drafting offices and building design practices producing compliant plans and drawings for approvals and construction.
