About the course
The Graduate Certificate in Science enables graduates to broaden their science expertise by completing the equivalent of an undergraduate major in a chosen stream, subject to academic background. It is designed for students who previously completed a bachelor’s degree in one science major and have prior study in another science area they want to develop further. Students select from a range of discipline streams spanning biological, chemical, earth, mathematical and physical sciences.
What you might learn
Students develop deeper, structured knowledge in a new science discipline through focused study equivalent to a major. The course builds capability to transition into further study in the selected stream by consolidating foundational and intermediate concepts. It supports academic upskilling and re-specialisation for graduates seeking to expand or redirect their science pathway.
Career outcome
Graduates can leverage the added discipline major-equivalent to broaden eligibility for science-related roles or to pivot into a new technical area aligned with their selected stream. The qualification can support progression into further study and provide a stronger platform for roles across laboratories, environmental and earth sciences, data/mathematics-focused work, and other science-led industries. Outcomes vary by stream, with pathways that may include research support, technical officer roles, analytics-related positions, or preparation for advanced coursework.
Entry requirements
Completion of a bachelors degree in one major, as well as first and second-year subjects in another area of science.
