About the course

The Graduate Certificate in Medicine (Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy) is an online, part-time course for medical practitioners seeking specialist training in trauma-informed and psychodynamic psychotherapy. It focuses on treating conditions where trauma contributes to mental health presentations, including anxiety, post-traumatic and chronic depressive disorders. The program builds foundational psychotherapy skills through stream-specific study, supporting clinicians to apply ultra-brief and short-term interventions in practice in a graduate certificate-level medicine specialisation.

Career outcome

This course supports medical practitioners aiming to expand into psychotherapy and trauma-informed clinical practice. Graduates may use the skills to enhance care in general practice, psychiatry training roles, community mental health and hospital-based services, applying psychodynamic and trauma-informed approaches in assessment and treatment planning. It can also strengthen a pathway toward further supervised psychotherapy practice and related postgraduate study. It is a graduate certificate-level qualification focused on medicine and trauma-informed psychotherapy.
