About the course
Federation University’s Bachelor of Social Work prepares you to support individuals, families and communities through counselling, advocacy and community development. Co-designed with local partners, it focuses on social justice and an eco-systems and empowerment approach, with options to recognise prior learning and workplace-based study where possible. You’ll complete 140 days of supervised placement to build real-world practice as an entry-level social work qualification.
Career outcome
Graduates can work across government, non-government and community organisations delivering counselling, advocacy, community development, policy work and research. Career opportunities include child protection and early intervention, family support, school and hospital social work, community and mental health services, substance use, housing and disability services, justice and aged care. With experience, some social workers move into private practice and may pursue AASW mental health accreditation.
