About the course
This honours course prepares students for contemporary social work practice across areas such as health and mental health, child and family welfare, youth work, homelessness, domestic and family violence, disability and community development. It is grounded in social justice and human rights and emphasises anti-oppressive, decolonised and trauma-informed practice. You’ll build theory and practice skills and undertake an honours research pathway within undergraduate social work.
Career outcome
Graduates may work across government, community and health settings supporting individuals, families, groups and communities. Career directions can include frontline client service and casework, community development and advocacy, and roles in service coordination or management. The honours component also supports pathways into research, strategy and social policy development. Outcomes align with professional practice in social work and related human services at bachelor honours level.
