About the course
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) - SMAH (Cell and Molecular Biology) at UOW is a one-year full-time on-campus honours degree focused on advanced study and supervised research in cell and molecular biology. You’ll strengthen scientific inquiry and research capability through an honours project within the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health, building deeper expertise to prepare for research-intensive or specialised science roles in molecular and cellular biosciences. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Graduates may pursue laboratory and research-focused roles across biotechnology, health and environmental sectors, including molecular biologist, microbiologist, DNA analyst, forensic scientist, bioinformatics specialist, research associate, or clinical research support roles. The honours year also provides a strong pathway to higher degree research and further specialisation in cell and molecular biology within the sciences. Preparing graduates for laboratory technician, research assistant, and science-based industry entry roles.
