About the course
Deakin’s Bachelor of Science (Honours) is an optional one-year program that extends prior science study through an intensive honours research experience. You’ll pursue a focused project in an area such as life and environmental sciences, chemistry or mathematics, supported by academic experts. The course also develops core research capabilities including experimental design, quantitative analysis and scientific communication, preparing you for employment or further research training in science at honours level.
Career outcome
Graduates can apply advanced research and analytical skills across science-focused roles in laboratories, industry, government and environmental or health-related organisations. The honours research experience strengthens capabilities in data analysis, research design and professional scientific communication, supporting entry into research assistant and graduate scientist pathways. It also provides strong preparation for higher degree research study such as a masters by research or PhD in the sciences at honours level.
