About the course
The Optimisation Specialisation is an undergraduate specialisation made up of four units that you take alongside an eligible Curtin bachelor degree. It builds capability in optimisation approaches used to improve decisions and performance in scientific and industry contexts. You apply for a listed host degree and add this specialisation to tailor your studies and strengthen quantitative problem-solving in the sciences at bachelor level. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
This specialisation supports careers where optimisation and analytical decision-making are valued, including operations and industrial optimisation, modelling and planning, and data-informed process improvement. Graduates may apply these skills in resources, manufacturing, logistics, consulting, government or technology-focused teams, typically in roles such as optimisation/operations analyst or quantitative analyst. It complements a Curtin bachelor degree by enhancing science-focused analytical capability.
