About the course
This honours year builds advanced midwifery knowledge through research-focused study and strengthened clinical and evidence-based practice skills. You’ll learn in small groups with guidance from experienced academics, complete research methods training, and produce a substantial thesis that may be publishable. The program supports midwives aiming for leadership roles or future higher degree study in midwifery at bachelor honours level. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates may move into research-informed clinical practice and leadership across public and private maternity and neonatal services. The honours thesis and research training support pathways into research assistant or coordinator roles, quality and safety improvement, education and training settings, and work in rural/remote clinics or aid organisations. This qualification also strengthens preparation for higher degree research in nursing and midwifery. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
