About the course

Deakin’s Master of Mental Health Nursing develops advanced, specialist skills for registered nurses working with consumers, carers and supporters across community and inpatient settings. Study online and build capability in holistic assessment, major mental health conditions, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care, and therapeutic and pharmacological interventions. Choose a coursework pathway with electives or a thesis stream to contribute to practice through research in mental health nursing at master’s level.

Career outcome

Graduates are prepared for advanced practice in mental health nursing, strengthening clinical decision-making and person-centred care across diverse services. The course supports progression to senior clinician roles, coordination and leadership positions, and practice improvement work within multidisciplinary mental health teams.
