About the course
The Bachelor of Midwifery (Honours) is a one-year program for high-achieving graduates of a Bachelor of Midwifery (or equivalent) who want to extend their expertise through supervised research. You will develop advanced research capabilities and produce an honours thesis with guidance from experienced academics, contributing to a focused area of midwifery interest. This Honours qualification does not lead to Ahpra registration as a midwife. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates gain strong capability in research design, data analysis and interpretation, and project management, supporting evidence-based practice in maternity care settings. The Honours year is also a direct and efficient pathway into higher degree research, including doctoral study. This Bachelor Degree / Honours Degree in Nursing supports progression into research-focused roles and advanced study within midwifery and broader health services. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
