About the course
This five-year Joint Medical Program combines a Bachelor of Medical Science (years 1–3) with a Doctor of Medicine (years 4–5), delivered with the University of New England and local health districts. You’ll build strong foundations in biomedical science and patient-centred clinical methods, with early clinical placements and modern learning technologies. Electives include areas such as rural and global health, Indigenous health and laboratory medicine in this undergraduate Medicine program.
Career outcome
Graduates typically complete an approved internship as a Junior Medical Officer before entering medical practice. After internship, many pursue specialist training over several additional years. Career directions include hospital and community-based medicine such as emergency medicine, general practice, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and child health, physician (medicine) pathways and surgical training. Outcomes align with an undergraduate entry pathway into medical practice and specialty careers in Medicine.
