About the course
This journalism major develops the research, investigative and storytelling skills needed to report across mainstream and independent media. You’ll learn to create news and feature content for radio, video and online platforms, supported by industry-experienced staff and access to professional facilities such as a media production studio, Curtin FM and the Western Independent news site. It can be studied within a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts double degree in media and communication.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles producing and presenting news and digital content across multiple channels. The major supports careers such as journalist (online, video or radio), media presenter, communications officer, media relations officer and digital media officer. Opportunities exist in media organisations as well as government, corporate communications and public relations settings. This prepares Bachelor-level graduates for professional pathways in journalism and broader media and communication work.
