About the course
This undergraduate major builds knowledge and practical skills for work in Indigenous mental health. You’ll learn mental health strategies and treatment approaches to engage effectively with Aboriginal mental health patients in culturally informed ways. The major is studied as part of an eligible Curtin bachelor degree and can support progression to honours and selected postgraduate pathways in the health area. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles supporting Indigenous mental health in community, program and service settings. Typical opportunities include Indigenous mental health officer positions and coordination or leadership roles such as project manager or policy manager, contributing to culturally appropriate mental health initiatives and services.
