About the course
The Bachelor of Health Science draws on ANU strengths in medical education, biomedical science, population health, psychology, social science and public policy. It builds a broad foundation for understanding contemporary health challenges and offers multiple pathways and directions across health-related study. The degree can support progression toward further study such as medicine, honours and related postgraduate options, and prepares graduates for a range of health and public service contexts.
What you might learn
You will develop core knowledge across biological, biomedical and population health sciences, alongside research methods and an understanding of health systems and policy. The program builds skills in analysing health issues from scientific and social perspectives, communicating evidence, and applying interdisciplinary problem-solving. Through compulsory and guided elective study, you can shape your learning toward areas such as global health, health promotion, psychology, or health and medicine research.
Career outcome
Graduates are prepared for diverse roles across health and health-related sectors, including allied health pathways, health policy and planning, public service, health promotion, research support and community programs. The broad curriculum supports work in government and non-government organisations, health agencies, and service delivery settings. It also provides a strong platform for further professional or research study in medicine, public health and related fields.
Entry requirements
Entry is competitive and typically requires an ATAR of 90 (or IB 35) or an accepted equivalent qualification. Applicants apply through the standard ANU admissions process, with prerequisites and any adjustment factors considered where applicable. This program is not available for Semester 2 commencement, so students should plan for a Semester 1 start.
