About the course
Geology is an applied science that explores how Earth works, from surface processes to the deep interior. You’ll build an understanding of Earth materials, environments and geological change through time, developing practical skills relevant to real-world problems. This undergraduate geology specialisation sits within UWA’s science study options and prepares you for further study or work in geoscience fields. The programme develops laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and analytical methods for research and industry settings.
Career outcome
Geology graduates can pursue diverse careers across resource industries such as minerals, petroleum and groundwater, as well as research areas including planetary geology and volcanic or earthquake hazard prediction. Opportunities also exist with government agencies managing resources and with environmental consultancies and regulators.
