About the course
This degree builds scientific and practical knowledge of food and nutrition to support healthier people and safer, more innovative food systems. You’ll study food chemistry, human physiology, food analysis and safety, preparation and product development, and how nutrition influences health, disease prevention and performance. You’ll also explore public health and social aspects of nutrition. This is an undergraduate Food Sciences qualification. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.
What you might learn
Develop core capabilities in nutrition and food science, including understanding the role of diet in health and illness prevention, food composition and cooking skills, and designing new food products. You’ll also examine how nutrition affects sport and cognitive performance, and explore how food influences the human microbiome. This learning focus supports bachelor-level study in Food Sciences.
Career outcome
Graduates can pursue roles across nutrition, public health and the food industry, working with community health services, government and NGOs in food policy, and food manufacturers and marketers. Potential positions include nutritionist/public health nutritionist, food scientist or technologist, product manager, food safety officer, and roles in food marketing and media or health and wellbeing programs. This is a bachelor-level pathway in Food Sciences. Preparing graduates for nursing, allied health, and community care professional registration and graduate roles.
