About the course
This double degree combines chemical engineering and extractive metallurgy to build skills for improving industrial processes in the mining and resources sector. You’ll study the design and operation of extraction, conversion and recovery processes, including minerals processing, hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy, with an Engineering Foundation Year. The course emphasises sustainability and includes at least 12 weeks of professional engineering practice in chemical engineering and metallurgy at bachelor honours level.
Career outcome
Graduates can work across resources and process industries where materials and metals are extracted and refined. Typical roles include chemical engineer, metallurgist, process engineer, process metallurgist, production/operations engineer, plant metallurgist, and risk and safety manager. Preparing graduates for graduate engineer, project support, and technical design roles across engineering sectors.
