About the course

Australia’s first Bachelor of Dementia Care is a fully online degree focused on improving the lives of people living with dementia. Developed by the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, it builds specialised, practical knowledge for care across community, hospital and aged-care settings. Flexible study is available part-time or full-time, with no exams, no on-campus classes and no placements required for this undergraduate health sciences degree. The programme develops clinical skills, patient care fundamentals, and health sciences knowledge for registered practice pathways.

Career outcome

Graduates can support and lead improved dementia care across aged care, community services, hospitals and disability or rehabilitation settings. The degree prepares you to apply evidence-informed approaches to care practice, communication and service improvement, and to contribute to dementia-friendly systems and programs. Roles may include dementia care worker, care coordinator, client support or education-focused positions within health and aged-care organisations, as a bachelor-level health sciences qualification.
