About the course
This honours major develops advanced research capability in agriculture and food science through an independent research project guided by an academic supervisor. You will plan and conduct a study, critically review literature, form research questions and hypotheses, choose appropriate methods and experimental design, and address social and ethical considerations. The major culminates in a professional dissertation that is submitted, presented and defended as part of a Bachelor of Science (Honours) pathway in agriculture science.
Career outcome
Graduates gain research and communication skills suited to technical and analytical roles across agriculture and food science. Skills in experimental design, data collection and interpretation, and scientific writing support pathways into research assistant positions, laboratory and field-based technical roles, quality and production support, and further postgraduate study. The dissertation experience is particularly relevant for honours-level entry into research-focused careers in agriculture science and food systems.
