Reasons to Study in Malaysia

Every one of us have considered studying in another country at least once in our lives. The thought of grazing Fish and Chips in London or enjoying the breeze on Bondi Beach in Sydney is too irresistible for some! On the other hand, some might prefer the sense of familiarity, and staying in the comfort of your own home.

The Malaysian education standards are closely monitored by the Ministry of Higher Education, with the vision to turn Malaysia into a Centre of Excellence for Higher Education.

Here are some of the reasons why you should consider studying in Malaysia!

1. Same International Qualification, Locally!

If you are planning to study a Bachelor degree in Malaysia, most degrees offered here are designed and assessed to meet the standards of high-ranking overseas universities. You can even graduate with the same certificate as those who has studied overseas, such as UK, Australia, Ireland or many more.

A major part of Malaysia’s state investment in higher education is its growing partnerships with universities in other countries. Many foreign universities, especially Australian and British, have branch campuses in Malaysia. Malaysian’s EduCity Iskandar in the state of Johor, is a giant international student village, and campus shared by leading foreign universities.

2. Easy Transfer to an Overseas Campus

Many degrees offered in Malaysia offer inter-campus transfer or opportunities to go on an exchange. Inter-campus transfers allow students to save on course fee and living costs while still being able to explore another country for as long as you wish.

Most of the programs in Malaysia (Pre-U / Diploma / Foundation) will be accepted by overseas universities and some will even receive advanced standing into second or final year of universities.

This is a common question that AUG staff receive regularly regarding the possibility of students getting their credit transfer. Please feel free to ask any of our friendly staff for advice on how to maximise your credit transfer!

3. Affordable Tuition Fee & Living Cost

You can obtain a good degree of international recognition at an affordable tuition fee! In addition to paying lower fees compared to traveling abroad, we can also advise you on scholarships offered to students who are keen to study in Malaysia!

Besides, the cost of living in Malaysia is considerably lower as well, which eases your financial burden.

4. Multi-Lingual

Malay, Mandarin and English are the most spoken languages in the country. You will find no language barrier here while you live here as you will be mixing with the multi-racial Malaysian community. You might also able to pick up some new languages or dialects in the country, such as Cantonese, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam or Tamil etc.

5. Safety

Malaysia is one of the safest and more politically stable countries in the world with a relatively low crime rate. The weather in Malaysia is sunny and rainy all year without extreme cold or hot weather conditions making the weather easy to adapt to.

6. Foodies’ Paradise

Malaysia is a multi–ethnic, multicultural, and multilingual society, and the many ethnic groups in Malaysia maintain separate cultural identities. If you consider yourself a foodie, you will find Malaysia a real foodie’s haven with great variety of cuisines. Both Halal and non-Halal dishes are widely available in Malaysia.
